30 before 30 - how’d I do?
I’m 30. (woooooooopppy doooo.) It’s really not so different at all - but neither was 10, 13, 21 nor 25. So there. I thought it’d be cute to do a 30 before 30 list last year. Let’s see how I did…
1. Get married.
2. Sky dive. -> shady “Buy with Me Deal” = fail.
3. Drive across the country.
4. Finish reading T’s thesis.
5. Eat vegan twice a week (we’ll say, Tuesday & Thursday). This is my compromise to the planet. -> I just…didn’t. Oops.
6. Donate my hair. -> I chopped it off…but I forgot to save it. (shrug)
7. Go to the Hollywood Bowl for a concert. -> I went to the Greek ampitheatre. Does that count? No. It doesn’t huh?
8. Warrior Dash.
9. Learn to work the Pole.
10. Payoff last credit card.
11. Go down to San Diego to visit my friend & her boyfriend.
12. Send a Holiday card (bonus: sending birthday cards…might save this one for 35 before 35)
13. Plan a staycation for Mom & Me.
14. Adopt an outdoor cat (so random, I know).
15. Pick an annual Holiday and make it tradition to host it every year following. (I’m thinking 4th of July, Memorial Day and/or Super Bowl)
16. Watch a play or professional dance show.
17. Get rid of 20 pairs of shoes.
18. Host a soiree in the BP one last time.
19. Try one of the “popular” food trucks.
20. Go to Magic Mountain.
21. Throw T a birthday party. (I’ve never spent his actually birthday with him. We were always 3,000 miles apart.)
22. Learn how to use T’s SLR camera. -> I learned how to use instagram.
23. Figure skating lessons. Dance on ice – why not? -> I might have been smoking crack when I wrote this one.
24. Adopt a soldier & a whale. -> I’d still like to do this one.
25. Learn to ski, snow not water. (there is a very small window of opportunity here in December 2011). -> I will learn in February instead.
26. Give at least 3 more speeches for Toastmasters. -> Blew this.
27. Cardio. Ew. (At least twice a week. This feels like a rule versus a goal.) -> I was really good at it…
28. Smash personal 10K time (okay, maybe not “smash” considering I haven’t really been training.) PR: 1:00:03. -> ALMOST. But no cigar.
29. Drop into more dance classes during the weekend.
30. Lose those last 5 pounds…for good. (Yes, I know “pounds” are not the end all, be all of wellness BUT they are easily measurable and I’m sick of seeing the same effing numbers, day in and day out.)
I did 16 out of 30…not so bad. Okay, that was pretty bad. Oh well, I tried!
